Which games do you think are better to Let's Play? Old games or newer ones?

If you're a starting Let's Player, I'd say that an older game would be better, because those games tend to be shorter than the newer ones.

I think there's a frank fact that it's easier to LP old games because of the easiness of using emulators whilst recording - no need for various hardware installations. Outside of that, I think it's quite split.
And in regards to length of games, it can vary, e.g., Final Fantasy I is a very long game to complete compared to, say, Ultimate Spiderman, which is completable in a couple of hours, despite age.

Right, right! There are many factors to take in account, unless you just want to LP for fun

I think it depends.

Old-time gamers know about the classics, so new games will always be the primary choice for discussion. On the other hand, new gamers that are up-to-date with the new stuff should check out the old games since they probably never had a chance to experience the awesomeness of old-school games.

I see. Interesting view, ya see I love both sometimes it's hard though when you start new and have to degrade to something lower, it's hard to adjust game play ya know?

I don't think that applies to EVERY game though. There are many classics that are still very popular, such as Super Mario World. :p

I think there's also an element of avoiding repetition. Some games like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario 64 have been done loads of times. New games aren't done as frequently, so maybe it is slightly preferable to do new ones.

That can be true and untrue. I checked "Let's Play L.A. Noire" the day it came out and there were more than 20.

No it's good indeed. I love historic games like that and it's a very innovative approach to gaming other than FPS and RPG and Fighting that's been surfacing a lot lately.

I do agree some of the cases seem to be repetitive but that just shows the threat of the killer doing this. Car mechanics could be better, much better...Like an actual BREAK button.

Exactly, I am one of thousands. To be honest, it definitely hinders my ability to attract new viewers, because there are LOADS of Chrono Trigger LPs; Why pick mine, when nearly all the big LPers have one? NCS noted the same thing about Super Mario 64.

Why pick you? Because not everyone likes NCS or Chugga or one of them. And even if they do, your commentary can be completely different. In my opinion I think it doesn't matter what game you play, new or old, it comes down to what you have to say and how well you can say it.

True. But to be honest, even on their off-days, the big names make me sound like crap. But, it's all experience, eh?

Of course it does. I constantly joke around with my friend at how awful my very first episode to my first Let's Play sounds. The beginning alone sounds very awkward and off-putting; but eventually I became very comfortable with it and found my style and now I am told I'm multiple people's favorite Let's Player. Its all experience.
