What do you have to say about this never ending war? Please refrain from high end flaming.

PC VS CONSOLE Empty Re: PC VS CONSOLE

Post by Guest Mon Jul 04, 2011 3:39 pm

Um the PC is far more versatile and I must say I do like my PC more. But not for videogames. My PC does everything I need it to do, and is a powerful tool for just about everything. But my favorite videogames are console games, and though a PC can run emulators it's not the same.

So, if we're talking videogames I would have to side with consoles, though in general PCs are more versatile and more useful.

Hmm I see. People tend to like the PC due to it's "customization" aspect of it, sure comfort is always nice but then it feels like your just hacking the game to make yourself better, not really on an equal par with all the other players like on a console where customization is limited to none.

I like them both honestly. I mean, I'm not a hardcore gamer in any sense but to me each has it's advantages and disadvantages. PC games are nice for me because of the portability/convenience factor but console games tend to give me more of a challenge.

Not to say I don't love my consoles, I just tend to prefer the faster gameplay of high end PCs, plus graphics, that and the fact it is easier to LP off of, exclusive indie games, *cough*Minecraft*cough* plus the ability to have headsets for sound easier, then for a TV. (And yes, that IS technically one sentence. Yer, I do know my grammar, this sentence shouldn't have started with an "and")

Not really true at all. Consoles are meant to play on TVs, and most modern consoles render up to 1080p (unless you have a high end gaming computer, PCs will not render to that res). Of course the wii is an exception with it's mere 480p maximum but yea. Also, consoles ALWAYS play faster than PCs because games are developed specifically for the system. On PC the games will slow down if your system does not meet requirements, and unless you have some high end gaming PC you cannot actually run full resolution on the games without it lagging or not functioning correctly.

That is also false. I have actually asked NCS what the specs of the PC he used (before it broke) to capture is. It would NOT be able to record with fraps without INTENSE lag at half-size. And yet he could record tons of console games in very decent quality. Even my old laptop with 4GB ram and a Dual-Core processor would lag if I tried to RECORD minecraft even at the lowest quality. But I could record lagless in 360p from my console via my 8$ capture card.

Yes, but you see, my computer makes system requirements its bitch, even when recording I only get very minor lag with Minecraft on full graphics with the 3D anaglyph with a recorder that eats most computers for breakfast (and wallets by the way) but I must indeed say, Black Ops runs faster on my Wii than it will ever run off an Xbox or PS3. (And Black Ops has actually BLOWN UP my Wii before.)

I believe capturing cables or boxes are more accessibly easier than it is something like Camtasia or Fraps, because to run those you have to have an AMAZING computer to record your voice, record the game and overall have the game open without your computer melting on you. Whereas in console, the computer does the simple things while the console runs the game.

Yes but you have to swallow your wallet whole to buy anything actually worth recording consoles on.

Uh not true, my Capture cable was only 39.99 and an HD recorder box I saw for 99.99. Not really swallowing.

I paid like 10$ for my EasyCap which records in S-Video (2 Signal) quality at a resolution of 480p maxed out. The splitters cost a tiny bit more but I got my splitter box for like 18.99$ used, and Y-splitters themselves probably cost less. I will level with you though, to RECORD in 720p or 1080i you need to pay for high end capture cards, for even 3 Signal (Component) capture cards of the cheaper variety (Machinima's Roxio thing) doesn't record over 854x480.

But bottom line, it costs less to get a capture card setup then to use Fraps, though that is not a problem these days thanks to illegal torrent downloads...

High-end PC, obviously.

Consoles are for people who cannot afford high-end gaming pcs to play new games, fact.

Alternative angle: I like to get away from my computer at times - be it to socialise, go outside, touch myself or other. Other includes video games on consoles, in a different place in my room to my computer chair.

PC VS CONSOLE Empty Re: PC VS CONSOLE

Honestly this topic doesn't really bother me. I have a decent PC that I game on the occasion. It can run basically all the things that I am interested in playing. (although I should soon upgrade my graphics card is about 4 yrs old now) As well I have a Xbox 360 that I spend way more time with. I prefer my Xbox over PC as simple as the fact, ease of use. I don't have to do any installing or making sure that my pc can run a certain game. Updates take a few seconds to do on the 360 and I love gaming with a controller. That and I can easily relax in my lazy boy while playing my 360. PC while the core concept is better ie: better graphics, tons of mods and a more mature community it entitles way to much work for me to deal with. I just want to throw a disc in my system and play. Also about 90% of my friends game on the 360 so that draws me towards it more as well. Don't get me wrong I enjoy gaming on my PC on the occasions that I do. Either that be playing some TF2, or Counter Strike to games like Planet Side 2 or Mech Warrior online. The consoles just can't compare to the experience when those games are being played. When it all boils down whatever you are happy with playing and comfortable with should only be the factor when it comes to what you chose to game on. We are all gamers here <3
